John C. Wilbiekaitis of National Park died at his home Tuesday, July 4, 2006. Age 59. Mr. Wilbiekaitis was born in Philadelphia and served in the U.S. Navy as a utilitiesman chief with the Seabees for 26 years before retiring in 1997. He was a Vietnam veteran. At the time of his death, he was employed at the Defense Supply Center in Philadelphia. John started his government career as an apprentice pipe fitter at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and went on to serve the Federal government for 40 years.
He was a life member and Grand Quartermaster/Treasurer and membership chairman of the Cooties, where he was lovingly referred to as “John Alphabet”. He was also Deputy Inspector South, Dept. of NJ V.F.W. , Inspector of V.F.W. District 13, and life member and Quartermaster of V.F.W. Post 7125, among other duties. In addition, he was a life member and Paymaster of Army-Navy Garrison 52, a life member of American Legion Post 133 and Fleet Reserve Association 057, and a retired pipe fitter of Local 322 Plumbers and Steamfitters.
John is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Patricia, daughters Catherine and her husband Michael Grimm of Souderton, Pa., Amy Wilbiekaitis of Lansdale, Pa., and Danelle Wilbiekaitis of National Park, two grandchildren, Nathan and Ava Grimm, sisters Linda (Gerard) Dunphy of Southampton, Pa., and Barbara Magilton of Philadelphia and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing Friday 6pm to 9pm and Saturday 8am to 9am at BOUCHER FUNERAL HOME, 1757 Delsea Dr., Deptford. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday 10am at St. Anne’s RC Church, Westville. Interment Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery, Monroe Twp.
