James J. Clifford, Sr.

James Joseph Clifford, Sr., age 82 was called Home on May 14, 2024. Jimmy was the son of the late Horace and Agnes (nee Personne) Clifford, and the brother of Patricia and Thomas (Mary) of Pittsgrove and the late Charles of Deptford. He leaves to cherish his memory his best friend and beloved wife, Karen (nee Kinkle) Clifford with whom he shared a long and happy marriage, and his children, who meant the world to him: Christine Chang of Deptford, Deanna Summerville (Dana) of Mullica Hill, Anthony (April) Clifford of Pace, Florida and Kathleen (Tom) Smith of Deptford. He was predeceased by his son, James Jr., of Westville Grove. He adored his grandchildren: Mellissa, Chantalle, Katelyn, Alexis, Emily, Caelli, Conor, Cole and Christopher and great-grandchildren Guiliana, Milana, Kierstyn and Michael. Born in Memorial Hospital in Woodbury, he was raised in the Barlow Tract of Deptford where he lived almost his entire life. Jimmy retired from the Boilermakers (Local 28) and enjoyed building, gardening, cooking and anything at all his children or grandchildren needed him to do for them. He was as at home in the kitchen as he was in the shop. He made a warm and happy home with his wife where his family was always welcome. He liked nothing better than to have the whole gang around his huge oak table for a good meal which he’d prepared and to listen to their laughter. He was blessed with a multitude of friends who will long remember and miss him, especially Anthony “DeeDee” Basile and John Gligor, lifelong friends and golfing buddies for over 30 years. Their love, humor and devotion meant more than they know. He really lived his life and leaves many warm and wonderful memories in the hearts of his family and friends. He has left a void in our hearts - until we meet again. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Monday, May 20, 2024 from 10am to11am at The First Presbyterian Church of Blackwood, 21 East Church Street, Blackwood, NJ 08012.
