John R. Carroll, Jr. on January 27, 2023 of Pitman, formerly of West Deptford. Age 87. Beloved husband of Sue E. (nee McCall) Carroll. Loving father of Matthew (Felicia) Carroll, Virginia (Kevin) Brockway, and Laura Carroll. Cherished brother of Linda Haigh and Joyce (Arnold) Capriotti. Predeceased by his parents, John R. Carroll, Sr. and Miriam Carroll, his brother Richard Carroll, and his brother-in-law Robert Haigh. Devoted grandfather of Matthew (Ashley), Stephanie (Joshua), Gina (James), Julie (Steven), and Kevin (Gabriella). Loving great-grandfather of Kendall, Hannah, Chloe, Cullen, Kayden, and Bryson. Ray worked for Trans World Airlines at the Philadelphia airport for 35 years, and in his retirement, worked as a Hall Monitor at West Deptford High School. He loved being around the kids, especially his grandchildren who attended WDHS. Ray was active in the community as a Cub Scout Leader for Troop 36 in Camden, and enjoyed being involved in youth sports as a Midget Football and Little League Baseball coach. Ray was past President of the West Deptford Band Parents Association. He was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan, enjoyed spending time outdoors, and especially loved going to Long Beach Island where his family vacationed for many years. Ray was an avid TV and old movie buff. His favorite thing to do was sitting in his recliner watching TV. In his later years, Ray and Sue joined the travel group Happy Tours and went on many incredible trips - Switzerland, Alaska, and Hawaii being his favorites. Above all, Ray was a true family man and loved nothing more than spending time with his beloved family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 9:30am to 11am in The Chapel at BOUCHER FUNERAL HOME, 1757 Delsea Drive, Deptford, NJ 08096. Funeral Service 11am in The Chapel of the funeral home. Interment to follow at Woodbury Memorial Park, West Deptford.
