Paul Henry Taber, 72, of Woodbury, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on August 11, 2026, surrounded by his family, following a courageous two-year battle with cancer. A fighter until the very end, Paul faced his illness with the same strength and determination that defined so much of his life. Born on October 30, 1953, Paul was the youngest of four children born to Charles and Eleanor Taber. He was raised in South Plainfield, New Jersey, alongside his siblings William, Patti, and Charlie. Paul spent much of his working life behind the wheel as an 18-wheeler truck driver. He had a love for anything with wheels and a motor. In his younger years, he enjoyed Jeep racing, and he later found plenty of enjoyment in remote-control cars and tinkering with things that kept him busy. Paul was a natural jokester with a charismatic personality and a way of bringing humor into the lives of the people around him. He loved to laugh, make others laugh, and create memories with the people he loved. Some of Paul’s most meaningful memories were made with his family. When Amanda and Justina were young, Paul was very involved in their lives, especially when it came to softball. He was there to cheer them on and share in those important moments. He also enjoyed camping with Amanda and Justina when they were younger, creating memories that remained special throughout their lives. Later, he enjoyed camping with Russell, Ryan, and Devin when they were young as well. Paul shared a special bond with Russell, Ryan, and Devin, whom he loved as the sons he never had. He was especially close with Ryan, his wife Brittany, and their daughter Rylee. He also maintained a special relationship with Devin and his wife, Brooke, despite the distance. Paul was preceded in death by his second wife, Patty, and his beloved daughter, Justina. He leaves behind his daughter, Amanda, and her husband, John Morales; his stepchildren, Russell, Ryan, and Devin; and his grandchildren: Andrew, Amanda’s son; Rylee Ryan and Brittany’s daughter; Troy, Ethan, and Anna, the children of his late daughter Justina; and Braxton, Russell’s son. He is also survived by his brother Charlie, as well as extended family and friends who will remember his humor, charisma, strength, and fighting spirit. Though Paul’s life and relationships were not always simple, he remained a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was, above all, a fighter who never gave up. After two years of battling cancer, Paul passed peacefully at home, surrounded by the people who loved him. Paul will be remembered for his big personality, his quick wit, his love of racing, cars, camping, and family, and the laughter he brought into the lives of those around him.
