Richard T. Cameron

Richard T. Cameron, age 72, of Tabernacle, NJ, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, at Virtua Voorhees, surrounded by family Diane, Rachel, and Leah. Born in 1953 in Texas, raised in South Philly and Deptford, he enjoyed working at Tire King with his high school friends and his mentor, John Branca, who let him work for free until he proved his dedication and loyalty. After Deptford High, he became a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corp, choosing to enlist, along with many of his buddies, during Vietnam. He ended up stationed in Japan and loved it. He finished his time in the Army back in the States. Rich ran his own landscaping business for most of his life. He was down to earth, and enjoyed gardening, hiking, nature, deer, wild turkeys, lizards, rock walls, and all the gorgeous trees and bushes he planted along the way. Once on a hike in Vermont, he fought off a bear to save a family and their dogs. He was that kind of a man. He could discuss health, music, movies, history, comedy, anything, with anyone, and he would. Despite calling himself an introvert, once you got to talking with him, you knew he was passionate and educated. He became a certified health coach just to expand his understanding of the body and mind. He was a big brother to Lorraine Gillingham (Dave) and Diane Cameron; Uncle Rich to Rachel and Allison (Kirby); great uncle to Finn and Cooper. He is survived by his beloved cats, Smootchie and Minky; his wife, Rachel. He follows his parents, Lucy and Thomas, and his bosom friend, Terry Williams to the other side, and like so many young men of his generation, he died before his time. Rich will be remembered most for his kind-hearted passion in helping others. He valiantly fought cancer his way and went down swinging. We so appreciate the staff at Virtua Voorhees - Kaelyn, Patrick, Ian, and the others who were so kind and patient with him. Support your local animal shelter. Rich would like that a lot.
