Richard J. Verfaillie, Jr.

Richard (Dickie) Verfaillie passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 19, 2025 at the age of 90. Predeceased by his wife Geraldine Verfaillie (nee Clark), his brother Jerome (Jerry) Verfaillie and parents Richard J. Verfaillie, Sr., and Jennie Verfaillie (nee Neilio). Dear brother of Diane Janka (Ronald) of Pennsylvania. Cherished father of Charmaine Whitten (David) of Mantua, Laraine Verfaillie (Rick Rodgers, Sr.) of Deptford, Richard Verfaillie of Brooklawn, Sherri Martin (Trent) of League City, TX, and Michelle Tighe (Eric) of Glendora. Devoted grandfather of Charmaine Cerrito (Mario), Cherie Ann Mikell (Quintin), Koren Ricciardi (Claudio), Ricky Rodgers, Jr. (Nichole), Ashley Klein (Tom), Dallas Martin (Alyssa), and Eric Tighe, Jr. Loving great-grandfather of Quintin III, DeAndre, Mila, Niyah, Summer, Mario IV, Sabatino, Sophie, Brielle, Ricky III, Lucas, and Benjamin. Rich loved spending time with his family and watching the Phillies and Redskins. Spring training was his favorite time of the year. He was a dedicated Gloucester Lions fan throughout his life. He attended football, basketball, baseball and softball games with his buddies for many years. Rich grew up in Gloucester City and graduated from Gloucester City High School in 1953. He moved to Brooklawn in 1966 where he resided the remaining years of his life. Rich worked at UPS and was inducted into the Circle of Honor where he won an award for 35 years of safe driving in a nearly 40-year career. He was also the Shop Steward for the Teamsters Union. Rich was the president of the Brooklawn Little League in the 1980’s and was a member of the Brooklawn American Legion Post 72. He also served in the Army for six years and the Korean War for six months. In his younger years, he played the trombone and was an accomplished banjo player, playing alongside his father on the Paul Whiteman Variety Show. Rich was an amazing man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Monday, December 29, 2025 from 9:30AM to 11:00AM in The Chapel at BOUCHER FUNERAL HOME, 1757 Delsea Drive, Deptford, NJ 08096.
