Rosario J. Ideo

Rosario “Russ” Joseph Ideo on April 14, 2024 of Swedesboro, formerly of Bowie, MD. Beloved husband of the late Lillian “Micki” Maria Ideo (nee McGarvey). Loving father of Theresa Ideo of Maryland, Debbie Jones (Dave) of Maryland, and Judy Ideo of New Jersey. Devoted grandfather of Courtney, David, Ryan, Rachel, and Taylor. Russ loved his family, especially his grandkids. He was so very proud of them and loved being their Bebop and Pop-Pop. Russ and Micki lived in Bowie, Maryland for 54 years where they raised their family prior to moving to Swedesboro, New Jersey. Russ was a longtime civil servant and retired from the General Services Administration. He then went on to work for Prince George’s County as a school bus driver. Then for fun, he worked as a usher for the Bowie Baysox where his love for baseball grew. Russ was very active in the Bowie community. He was a long time member of Knights of Columbus Council #2577 where he volunteered his time and talents. He was also a founding member and a past President of the Citizens Association of South Bowie where he was recognized for his commitment to the City of Bowie, including the proposal and finally construction of a contemporary public library in South Bowie. He also volunteered his talents with his late wife, Micki, at Saint Edwards Parish in Bowie. He was also active at the local senior center and delivered meals to the elderly through the Meals on Wheels Program. In his post-retirement days, Russ continued to grow his love of baseball. He became an avid Nationals fan and once he moved to New Jersey and could no longer watch “His Nationals” he once again became a Phillies fan. Russ will always be remembered for his friendly demeanor and positive outlook on life. Every birthday he was “only halfway through his life”. We will miss Russ every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved and knew him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 11:00am to 12:00noon at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Joseph's Church, 140 Broad St., Swedesboro, NJ 08085.
