Jeannette M. McCormick (nee Friel) on May 2, 2020 of Barrington, formerly of Haddon Heights. Age 87. Beloved wife of the late James J. McCormick. Treasured mother of James (“Jimmy”) McCormick of Maple Shade, Michael McCormick (Linda) of Gloucester City and the late John McCormick and Paul McCormick (Diane). Predeceased by 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Loving grandmother (“Mom-Mom” or “Granny Mac”) of Jim (Stacie), Jennifer (Jon), Melissa, Joe, Nicole, Ryan and James. Great-grandmother of Sydney, Jonathan, Jayden, Matthew, Mason and Conor. Cherished aunt to many. Jeannette was born October 25, 1932 to William Francis Friel and Mary Friel (nee Ryan). Born and raised in Philadelphia, Jeannette met the love of her life, James (“Jim”) McCormick, at West Catholic High School in 1950. They married soon after, in March of 1953. From August of 1956 to December of 1963, Jeannette and Jim went on to have 4 beautiful boys: Jimmy, Paul, Michael and John. In 1967, they moved with their 4 boys from Philadelphia to a cozy home in Haddon Heights, NJ. Jeannette dedicated her life to her family. She took care of the household, kept her 4 boys in line and poured her heart into every meal she put on the table. In February of 1990, Jeannette lost her husband of 37 years. Later that same year, she started working for Lockheed Martin, formerly known as GE, where she stayed for a few years before retiring. Since retiring, Jeanette’s life centered entirely on her family. Family parties and dinners brought joy to her life and she always welcomed company to her home with open arms. She enjoyed the simple things in life: reading the newspaper, comfy clothes, fuzzy socks/slippers and her favorite- chocolate! She liked Astrology, a passion she loved to do with her late sister. Her favorite place in the world was the beach, where she spent countless summers throughout her life in both Ocean City and Maine. Above all else, she loved engaging in deep conversations about any and every topic, whether in person or on the phone. Jeannette was a kind and loving woman with a warm personality that shined through her sometimes shy exterior. She had a huge heart and would do anything for the people she loved. She consistently put others before herself and never wanted to be of any inconvenience. She will be deeply missed by her family, who will continue to honor her memory.
