Raymond Lee “Ramie” Winter, 72, of Deptford, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, November 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with lymphoma. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Ray will forever be remembered for his strength, ingenuity, and boundless love for his family. Born on September 6, 1953, in Mickleton, New Jersey, Ray was the son of Rae Agnes “Winter” Chambers and Alvin William Warren Winter, both deceased. He was one of six siblings and is predeceased by his brother,Alvin Winter. Ray is survived by his other siblings, William Winter, Bertha Gillies, Marianne Pratt, and Lynn Chambers. He is also remembered, with love, by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws who held a special place in his heart. Ray’s legacy lives on through his three children and their spouses: Raymond Winter II (Sarah “Rosenberg” Winter), Michelle “Winter” Souders (Chris Souders), and Katherine “Winter” Carollo (Gaspare Carollo). He is also survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Joann “Hoffman” Winter, and his most cherished treasures—his grandchildren, Mason Ray Souders and Adalynn Willow Souders. A lifelong mechanic, Ray possessed an extraordinary ability to build or fix just about anything. He took great pride in constructing his own home, a lasting and heartfelt symbol of his dedication to his family. Though he worked tirelessly, his heart belonged to adventure—making memories traveling, collecting stories, and cherishing time spent with friends and loved ones on fishing trips, vacations, and family gatherings. Ray’s life was guided by the values of hard work and integrity. While he found purpose in his craft, his truest joy was found where the water meets the shore with a fishing pole in hand, or in a quiet forest clearing beside a warm campfire, sharing laughter and stories. He always had a good one to tell. Ray will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know and love him.
